Mathematical Biology Research Centre (MBRC), Nepal formal Inaugural program

On October 6, 2023, the Mathematical Biology Research Centre (MBRC), Nepal, was established under the leadership of Professor Kedar Nath Uprety from Tribhuvan University and Professor Naveen K Vaidya from San Diego State University. The centre's goal is to foster an interdisciplinary research environment among faculties/students from various universities in Nepal and research centres in Nepal and overseas. MBRC, Nepal formally began its research adventure on November 8, 2023, with an inaugural programme at Hillside Hotel Kirtipur. Professor Shiva Lal Bhusal, Vice Chancellor of Tribhuvan University, as the Chief Guest, and Professor Jane Heffernan, President of the Society of Mathematical Biology (SMB), Canada, as the Special Guest delivered their remarks. Around, 100 invited Guests and participants were present in the programme. The programme was conducted in two parts: the inaugural session and a panel discussion titled Mathematical Biology in Nepal: Interdisciplinary Research Opportunities, Challenges, and Future Prospects. In his final remarks, MBRC president Professor Kedar Nath Uprety mentioned his plan to organize an International Conference in 2025.
